We’re responsible for this environment, with the community’s input and in collaboration with many other organisations.

A family owned and operated business, Earth Sea Sky makes high quality outdoor clothing that aims to stand the test of time. The production runs are small and sustainable, and they use five clothing manufacturers to make all the garments here in New Zealand.

Orana Wildlife Park

Orana Wildlife Park is New Zealand’s only open range zoo. Operated as a registered charitable trust & committed to conservation of endangered animals & the welfare of our animals. Their aim is to provide education, recreation, and enjoyment to the public.

Trees for Canterbury

Trees for Canterbury was founded in 1990 and has developed into a fully functional nursery and welfare-providing organisation. Many of the native plants grown are utilised in community and revegetation projects; the remainder is sold at the nursery to provide a degree of self-funding.

Canterbury Workers’ Educational Association

The CWEA was established in 1915 and believes in lifelong learning for all, so offer courses in a wide range of interest areas with a special focus on social justice and the environment. Recreation and relaxation are also catered for and courses include Tai Chi, singing, drawing etc.

Gordon Harris Art Supplies

Gordon Harris Art Supplies is NZ’s largest and best known art supplies specialist with a store opposite Te Pūtenga / Ara in Madras St as well as a web store.

Eco Action Nursery Trust

Eco Action Nursery Trust grow native trees and plants suitable for native bird food and habitat within the Christchurch Red-Zone. They cultivate plants sourced from the nearby Travis Wetlands in satellite nurseries managed by schools and community groups. Throughout the year, they run events planting and mulching within the Christchurch Red-Zone. In time, the plants they grow will form a corridor for native birds to return to the Christchurch city centre.

Future Curious

Future Curious works in the sustainability and climate change education space. They can support you to support children and young people with these complex but present topics through:

  • Developing curriculum based programmes that support specific engagements and outcomes
  • Supporting engagement with children and young people on issues that interest and affect them
  • Facilitation of education programmes and workshops with children and young people
  • Presentations and workshops for educators and others interested in engaging with children and young people in sustainability and climate change education.

Bennetto Natural Foods was founded by Lucy Bennetto, a natural food lover who set out to make chocolate just for herself. Somehow, that plan went very wrong. But as their business grows, they are committed to using only traceable quality ingredients and impacting positively. They aim to do this in a fun way, appealing to the broadest audience possible for significant impact.

Thunderpants

Thunderpants are a small, ethical, family-owned and operated company, based in the Wairarapa, producing New Zealand made cheeky goodness for your bum (and other areas) from certified fair trade organic cotton.

Remix Plastics

The vision of Remix Plastic is to foster sustainable behaviour and a circular economy. This vision gives them the focus to carry out their mission of providing education that encourages and empowers individuals to make sustainable changes through their targeted actions:

Southern Woods

Located just south of Christchurch Southern Woods currently produces millions of trees per year of 500 species – varieties for shelter, forestry, tree crops, native revegetation, fuelwood, fodder, hedging and specimen trees.

Natural Attractions Antiques & Treasure is an antiques shop located at the Windmill Centre, 184 Clarence St, Riccarton.

NZAEE

NZAEE is the National Association for Environmental Education. It was established in 1984 with the aim of promoting and supporting lifelong learning and encouraging behaviours that lead to sustainability for Aotearoa. NZAEE is an independent voice for environmental education and seeks to empower people to respect and nurture the environment through all aspects of sustainability.  Our Canterbury branch is supporting this competition as enabling young people to have a voice is a key focus of education for a sustainable future.
